    LEGOs

As an Officer of Figurative Sculpture, we are starting to get submissions of large pieces created with LEGOs. The 'LEGO art' does not fit the definition of sculpture (do not flame - I am just giving background), thus are being declined.

I have suggested that a few Waymarkers get together and create a 'Built with LEGOs' category. Seems there is a growing collection of permanent Lego-built items.

    Just a suggestion.

    Take care,

    "permanent Lego-built items"

Sounds like an oxymoron to me.

As for the concept, how many are out there that are not part of a LEGO store - which failed in Peer Review

Indeed an oxymoron, but i'd be interested to see them they ARE actually permanent.

I am quite sure the Lego "sculpture" of Mark Twain's house in the Hartford Airport is as permanent as many other sculptures.

They're permanent if they're no longer able to be disassembled into usable LEGO blocks.
As in glued together and stuff.

Even if they're on the grounds of a LEGO store, we ought to consider that permanent, as we waymark lots of stores as if they're permanent.

So there'll be stores, LEGOLAND, Discovery Centers, and the occasional other one like at the airport Bruce mentioned.

Perhaps they need their own category?

    Re: LEGOs

For the record, I know exactly what we are talking about. I always thought the idea of permanent LEGO sculptures sounded very strange. My mother-in-law worked for LEGO for years so I was always giving her grief about the strange happenings with/of/for LEGO, but we always knew what the grandkids were going to get for presents.

    LEGOs

As an officer of the sculptures, it is my opinion these lego built sculptures do not meet the spirit of the category.

I would suggest starting a new category if enough people feel that strongly about these types of "sculptures".

    Thanks!

    Re: LEGOs

    Here are some permanent ones:

    Nessie

    Southern Belle

Some people have written me about interest in proposing this as a category. I suggest you form a Group begin to recruit members. I would be happy to help out.

    Re: LEGOs

So, I visited the Philadelphia Zoo in September with my kidlings and you know what? These things are permanent. They are not going anywhere, short of an explosion or the complete annihilation of the planet.

They are becoming more and more prevalent. Just because you cannot find one does not mean they are not there. That is the whole idea of a scavenger hunt! Find something not readily apparent or easy to be found.

I would have no problem starting this category off if anyone else is interested. I LOVE these sculptures. They are ridiculously awesome!

    Re: LEGOs

OK, I set up a LEGO group. Enrollment is On. Lets get some feedback.

Naturally, all the LEGO sculptures would have to be permanent and open to the public. Some questions:

How to handle LEGO sculptures in the LEGO Parks? (I've never been to a LEGO Park, hence the question).

How to handle LEGO sculptures in Malls where photography is not allowed?

Minimum Size? Complexity? Help me out here, folks.

    Thanks, Outspoken1

The only Lego group I can find was created in 2007. What's yours?

    Re: LEGOs

    Hi all
This is my first posting in the Waymarking Forum

    (Hope its OK )

only recently became a premium member after posting approx 250 waymarks, so a newbie, compared to most I see posting here.

I am (& my grandchildren) a big LEGO fan, I have located several Lego sculptures, that I cant find a home for.

I would love to see a LEGO category.

    Jeff

PS, how do I attach a picture ?
