What BT said. I had a similar problem but couldn't figure out who the deadbeat was. I sent an email out stating that a non response to the email was an acknowledgement that they were not interested in maintaining the Category. It was a mildly controverial Category and I had some suspicion that someone was monkeywrenching the ...

I think the requirement should be only a single photoI agree completely. Making it as simple as possible, but also making it obvious that the Waymark was visited is best.Kind of coincidentally, I had a recent Visit on my Half Dome Waymark (in the Summits Category), where the individual merely posted, ''Cool! I didn't know you could see this ...

I like the idea of some indicator of quality, but I'm not sure how widespread the idea is.I'm assuming that the ''M'' in your quote is for Monterey (although I see you're from Manteca so I could be wrong on that count), which I know you visit on occasion. To be honest, the weekly Monterey Coastal newspaper is the only public poll that I've ...

Traditionally the state parks in California are operated off of funds
generated by hunting and fishing licenses, park fees and illegal game
fines.Considering that the Governor is suggesting cutting 240 million dollars from the California State Parks budget, that is quite an amazing claim

Would this be waymarkable for D.C.I think in all fairness you'd have to include Tibet in that sort of submission ;)

Boy! Sure brings back the memories. Growing up in Portland, OR, we used to have Birthday Parties all the time at Farrell's Ice Cream ParlourI vividly remember The Pig Trough Challenge:The Pig Trough: two scoops vanilla, two scoops chocolate, two scoops
strawberry, strawberry topping (on vanilla), chocolate topping ...

A description of the area is now also required, including any
historical links between the monument / memorial and the local area.Seems pretty clear to me

I certainly feel your pain, and since I don't recall EVER deleting a Note/Visit Log, I'm pretty sure it wasn't me ;)I agree with most of the above, but it does sound like a problem crying out for a solution. Yeesh, what I wouldn't give for Field Note support like on GC (either Garmin CO or an iPhone version).Have a great vacation!

To make a listing there could be an ''Upload Track Data'' to a secondary site as part of the Waymark itself.Neat idea, although I would assume that you'd have to register on the external site, and although I'm not sure there are specific restrictions on Waymarking of such arrangements, like there is on Geocaching. If it did get the ...

First of all, Thanks for coming to the Forums to field some questions. Typically, I have usually put in a proposal on the Forums BEFORE forming a Group or submitting a new Category for review by the Community. There are many experienced and enthusiastic individuals on the Forums that can help guide you through the process, and give some

Geocaching only has 7 in total.Ya, I guess we could ask for something similar and have one submission page for all Categories with a pull-down menu option with over 800 choices .....that's a bit too scary to contemplate Like Geocaching, it took me a couple of submissions to kind of get used to it. If I remember right, I think the Wifi ...

kogamiyata:and what do you think of the category ANWB paddenstoelen ???Yes, I would also put that in the ''trivial/mundane'' , but also too regional to be a proper Category IMO.As has been pointed out above, just about anything can pass Peer Review, and of course, Officer Review if you stack the Group with your friends ;)You might want to ...

I know of a Geocache or two that would fit in this Category ;)I think it's a bit too prevalent in my area. Kind of like a Category based on garden gnomes or something :D

Oops...forgot to mention Artistic Benches in my Nay vote ;)
Different strokes I guess. Just like GC, I've gotten kind of particular about which Cats I like and which ones I ignore. This one will quickly go on the ignore list, but Hey! Whatever floats their boat :)

...to be cross-referenced in Waymarking, listing them under the category ''Wherigo''?An admirable idea, but it seems a bit redundant to me. I'm assuming that Groundspeak is working to integrate the three sites (Geocaching/Waymarking/Wherigo) a bit more *someday*. It would be nice to have the search functions more integrated ...

I generally have my camera set for 1024X768 when I'm out Waymarking and have also had pretty good success with that size. Occasionally I'll get thrown back a time out error, but usually tweaking the size down a tad in my photo editor takes care of it.

Some departments ask the local networks to report where they're clocking people on the morning news.I agree with the premise that a Category of this nature merely increases the awareness of the problem rather than promoting breaking the law. Like the similar Locationless Cache, I thought it poked more fun at the people that got ...

As far as materials other than gold go...I certainly hope you consider Mercury (Hg) ;)Every blue blooded Californian knows that the '49 Gold Rush would not have been possible without Quicksilver:The New Almaden Quicksilver Mine in Santa Clara County, California is the oldest and most productive quicksilver (i.e., mercury) mine in the United ...

...many stores and at times its seems most are trying to feature their Fair Trade items. I couldn't agree more, and it does seem these days that a business will make a token effort to appear trade friendly, when in fact it's barely lip service.Leaving aside the link to where Fair Trade Products can be purchased, the second link does to have a ...

The recent thread regarding the sharp growth in Category submissions/approvals got me to thinking:Time to limit urban sprawl inWm.comWhile I disagree with resorting to some sort of ''quality'' standard on the site in order to throttle submissions, I do find myself in somewhat agreement that there are a few Categories that lack both the ''unique ...
