chapterhouseinc:so then, the default pic is always one of the 5 (a good thing),
and the other 4 are the last pics uploaded (be they from the poster or visits)......
I'm not finding that to be completely true. I had six pictures for a waymark I wanted to upload, one a sign that I wanted to the the unshown picture. So I uploaded the headline ...

If I upload a dozen pictures with a waymark, how can I control which of the five picture display on the main page for viewers to click through without visiting the complete gallery? For example, I have some smithsonian sculpture, with some pictures showing damages to the works. I'd prefer that these be secondary pictures in the gallery and the ...

You can drag out a copy of the photo from the waymark gallery to your local hard drive, (just like the poachers). On a Mac I can then display the EXIF info, if present, using iPhoto or the Preview application by Getting Info in either application. There must be apps on Windows to do the same.

I'd love to participate more in the National Registered Historic Places category but I've been having trouble dealing with the National Register Information System database. If an NHRP location is not explicitly listed in the apparently static web site , then I can't find it.
After repeated failures (over months), doing queries from Safari on a ...

I know the big topic now is about having your photos stolen from this site. Let me point out that we have some house cleaning to do too.
I first noticed it happening when we received two submissions to the ''1,000 places to seeโฆ'' category that had fantastic photos. A peer category manager brought it to my attention and after a very quick Google ...

A couple of recent forum posts have reiterated the suggested style of facts and information in the waymark description and opinions and feelings in the visit log.
Realize that everyone who sees these web pages, might not a waymarker. Search engines are now finding waymarking web pages and presenting them to non-waymarkers as the result of a ...

So many achievements have been reached recently! Silverquill reached 5,000 waymarks, then SaoPaulo1 reached 12,000 and the collective 200,000 level was reached. Wow!
I'm a relatively new waymarker, having started posting regularly about six months ago. I had a personal push to reach the 500 waymark level by Sep 1st. For my 500th, I submitted my ...

There are three formats that you can enter coordinates for a waymark,
1.) Degrees, minutes, seconds (DMS)
2.) Degrees and minutes (MinDec) - the default
3.) Decimal Degrees (DegDec)
The default format used on waymarks for entering and displaying is format 2.
The reading from your GPSr is in format 3. You can change the pop-up menu to format 3 ...

Oh yeah, and if you're using iPhoto, select the photo in your library.
Open the Extended Photo Info panel, Command-Option-I or Photos menu->Show Extended Photo Info.
If there is geo-data to display, it will show up in the location section.

(on a Mac)
Open your iPhone photo, or any geotagged photo, in Preview. It's normally the default viewer already.
Open the Inspector window for a photo, Command-I or Tools Menu->Inspector.
Select the middle group at the top, (comic bubble with an ''!'').
You will see tabs to display all the metadata inserted by the camera.
If there is geo-data, ...
