I don't know. I think the idea is kind of pedestrian.

ODragon: BruceS:The reason the Leon didn't yield is anything is because of spelling. The spelling in the the category is Ponce de León with the accent mark.Sounds like Leon (no accent) would make a good keyword.Yes. Skimming through Wikipedia, I'd say keywords (limit of ten, last I checked) for that category should ...

The effect on people's perception of waymarking is a big issue with me. We should start compiling a list of outhouse and rest stop geocaches to have ready as a retort.

Kinetic Art sounds right so long as you're not including things like the audio mirror. And I'd agree with Bruce that if this is the name, it should include wind-driven art.Hmm, but would it accept the second waymark ever, Sound Garden?

TheBeanTeam: dinoprophet:If you broadened it to Interactive Art, you could capture those audio sculptures from another recent thread.I don't remember that discussion can you elaborate on what an audio sculpture is?Thanks, I didn't post a link before because I couldn't find it. Now I have to! I did finally find it. I misremembered, ...

cache_test_dummies: gt.us:How do you view the EXIF info on a waymarking photo?
I know on Flickr there is a place to click. There's a Firefox add-on that allows you to view the EXIF info on web based images.Exif Viewerw00t! Thanks!

It looks like the map is the easiest way to spot them.Do we have a primer somewhere here on protecting your work? I'd like to see one.

I voted yea with this comment:Maybe a variable for whether it is an original or a re-creation. Are the year variables optional for re-creations?

These numbers make no sense. I have been informed multiple times that nobody waymarks.

Nice one. I'd recommend providing a lot of global examples in the writeup -- people might be skeptical of the prevalence.

the blue quasar: chapterhouseinc:like if Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut all had the Pepsi logo for an icon--their parent company....
That would be very strange. Each restaurant has its own logo. That seems more realistic.
The only one that I wish would be updated would be the ''Tim Horton's'' category that I adopted/took over. All other ...

TheBeanTeam:It is possibly a good start but needs to be more clearly defined. There are the other categories previously mentioned and then this one fits in it as well.
Unoccupied Buildings, Shacks, and Cabins In the requirements I find it a bit intriguing that ''Almost one photo is requied'' Reading the description it is almost as if it ...

I'm excited about this category! Take a look at my Among the Ruins thread on gc.com, and realize that very few of those fit in an existing category (there are some furnaces and chimneys there, yes).I would like to see the description cleaned up a bit, and no GPS/person photo requirement. That said, I'm concerned about the membership. I'd

the blue quasar: gt.us:Just about everything I've seen in the Smithsonian Inventory of outdoor art could be waymarked in another category. I can't remember what I saw that I couldn't think up a category for.
Something as significant as the Smithsonian should have its own category IMHO.
BQIt should, but I don't think this is it. The ...

This site should have a Useful Links section, preferably linked on the waymark submission form.I just added a link to the site for one of my waymarks. I notice their info is outdated, though.

I wonder about prevalence AND globalness. But maybe a broader category. Classic Roadside Advertising or something. It could include See Rock City and Wall Drug billboards.

You might not expect Bicycle Tenders to be someone's proudest moment, but I think the two I've found were in the truest spirit of the category and waymarking: Martini and Treble ClefI'm also proud to have recently waymarked the iconic (in Michigan, anyway) Lumberman's Monument. I don't know what it is that I find so striking about that ...

gt.us: Redneck Parrotheads:I always consider Ford, Edison and Firestone but that might not be it.
The suit designs are very current, I'd say after y2k. I was thinking maybe Bill Ford, though.I don't think any of them looks like Bill Ford. The one on the right reminds me of Ron Gettelfinger, but I don't see a mustache.
