swizzle:I think there should be a strong effort by all of the waymarkers in this category to find something about each individual for the long description. Either good or bad, I'd like to read more then, ''Here he is and he was a U.S.Congressman.'' I think some are going to be pretty tough to find anything on but others have some pretty good ...

I would be interested in this category... for some reason waymarking has drug me into more than one graveyard.
How far would this go? Federal level? State? Local?

Another thought... what about a category of ''Interesting Stories,'' ''Waymarks with a story,'' or something like that... I saw another post that made think of this as a way that could address what I am really trying to accomplish. This would go along with the same thoughts as ''Wierd Stories'' and ''Urban Legends,'' but would not ...

I had slept since then, but I sure had, almost a year ago. I guess my thoughts haven't changed too much, other than maybe I have been swayed to understand the hundreds of thousands of unmarked soldier's graves, as I really have noticed how many there are in comparison with the civilian unknowns. I still think there is a need for that as well.

But there is a category for graves of the unknown.

Here is my thought to expound a little bit...
Waymarking is all about the location. I realize the magnitude of the suggestion, but not every grave is going to have a story, that atleast is known. Being a veteran, I often feel that the unsung hero is often forgotton. In this case, a Confederate Soldier may not be a hero in our eyes, but there is

I know from the subject that this is going to get an immediate NO, because there has to be atleast 5 million veterans in the United States alone, not to mention world wide. The real problem is that I don't have a good title for this so please read on and see what you think.
First some reasoning: I am an American Civil War buff, and often times ...

Well, I have spent several hours researching into this and I believe that I have found some real good guide lines.
There are three sources I would look at when looking at this subject.
1: http://www.kantor.com/blog/?s=photography+rights
2: http://www.usatoday.com/tech/columnist/andrewkantor/2006-08-11-photography-rights_x.htm
3: ...

I have a question related to this, and I have also got a waymark disapproved due to my principles on this matter.
The category was military bases. (not pointing fingers as this is not the point) My stance was that you can not take pictures of the front gate. It is a security issue taking pictures of any security measures on a military base. I ...

I have a lot of Unknown Soldiers and would love to work with you on the category.
A suggestion would be to create a waymark category called Unknown Soldiers Cemeteries rather than marking each grave. Within each waymark, acknowldegment for each grave could be included.

How would Federal and State agency work?
How would flags for organizations such as Boy Scout Troops, where they are different by designation but the same in design?

I would like to be part of this group. I know, however, there are atleast two books, one with the title 1000 places... in America, and the other 1000 places... in the world. Would the category be limited to one or both books?

Just giving you a hard time, Bruce, I know that there are PLENTY of waymarks in St. Louis. Doesn't mean your efforts aren't worth the poke! We're all jealous.
Ok, no draft on visits, then that simplifies what I was trying to get at, and really visits wasn't my focus. The longer I am active on this forum, the more I realize the ...

Here's another thought on posting while on vacation, why not save to draft. You still get to keep the data that you are wanting to enter, and you don't upset the applecart.
If categories are expecting a photograph, how would they know if a photograph is really going to follow? I have been reading a number of posts this evening about ...

I know there is a category called Wagon Roads and Trails. I am interested in making four specific categories:
Santa Fe National Historic Trail
Oregon National Historic Trail
California National Historic Trail
Mormon Pioneer National Historic Trail
Obviously there may be some overlap, however, someone specifically interested in finding

I realize I am new, but a nice feature would be a mobile version for the ability to pull up basic information on a mobile, palm or smart phone, without pictures or the like that makes downloading slow. I can access the site on my Palm Centro... but it doesn't like it when I do a search... too much data.
