Please, please, please , please no...Just kidding. Doesn't thrill me (translation I'm not interested in being an officer), but it seems a reasonable category and I would probably post more than the ''one to get the icon''.Sounds like you already have it pretty well defined - my first concern was the transient nature of signs, but you seem to ...

Congratulations! As far as the global thing, I totally agree with you. We have too many US/Canada only categories. I voted against the German-American category, because I felt it should be much wider - at least Western Hemisphere if not anything outside Europe.I would object to a category that purposefully excluded US and/or Canada ...

silverquill:We've discussed the problems of categories with leaders and officers who haven't logged on for long lengths of time, but I'm seeing another problem of categories where at least some officers seem to be logging on, but are not reviewing waymarks.I have waymarks in two categories that have been sitting for a week (Land Locked Boats and ...

brendah:Thanks for the input but my category '' other monuments or plaques'' does not just include subjects of history... there are many subjects... it could be an enviromental significant areas that has no reference to history.
It is also nice to have a category that is more specific to an area then just a catch-all that ...

brendah:HI Everyone!
My first category is in Peer Review right now (until May 16). I would appreciate your support in getting it successfully through this step!
Thanks!
Brenda (aka brendah)Sorry, but this would be redundant with the Signs of History category which is a catch-all category for any history signs that are not accepted in ...

From the yellowstone trail organization web site''In 1912, a group of small town businessmen in South Dakota undertook an ambitious project to create a useful automobile route, the Yellowstone Trail, across America. This was at a time when roads weren't marked, there were few maps and slippery mud was the usual road surface. The Yellowstone Trail ...

Anyone who looks at a cross section of my waymarks knows I love waymarking churches. Therefore I was disappointed these categories did not include them, but I had to admit that these were reasonable categories. I may never get a chance to waymark in them due to the limited number of examples of this type of architecture in the New ...

Rayman:If I may suggest another option, I just got a Delorme PN-40 back in December and love it. Previously I was using a Magellan Explorist 500. It was nice, but the Delorme blows it away in my mind, hands down. The price is usually around $300 on amazon.com and has true paperless geocaching features. It comes with Topo USA 7.0 (version 8.0 is ...

0ccam:I assume you mean the eTrex H, right?Seems like the best option following your reasoning. Good job!So what model are you saving for?Yes, that's the one. It was cheaper than the $99 listed in the link - I don't remember how much cheaper, but at least $10. So far I like it. I even played around with doing some GPS Track art ...

Doesn't do much for me, but my gut feel is that it would make a reasonable category. You've got a good start on what would be acceptable and what wouldn't and that makes everyone's job easier.

Just a follow up to this. I settled on a Garmin H. It has high sensitivity and came in under $100. So far it seems to work well for my needs, but I haven't had a chance to run it on a geocache hunt, yet.I'm nowhere close to going paperless, yet, so I figure it should be good for a while until I can save up some leisure cash for ...

I know topics on this are often discussed on Geocaching.com, but I seem to be having trouble getting into the forum tonight and I was hoping to get some quick advice since we will probably shop for one tomorrow. We are on vacation and stopped at a zoo today in Florida. At some point in the day, my GPSr disappeared, either it fell off our ...

I hope this makes it through, because this is one of those categories that I will go out of my way to visit someone else's waymarks. I certainly visit any waymarks in categories that I am interested in whenever I'm out and about, but I rarely go significantly out of my way solely to visit someone else's waymark. There are a few ...

I've got one in the category that I lucked upon. I'm not interested in any others - the first I one I submitted to the category was rejected based on subjective criteria that is unevenly applied to the waymarks. Not worth my time.

This gets into a ''What is you concept of waymarking?'' philosophy discussion. I believe that waymarks should not be archived (doesn't matter to me whether this is a deletion or an actual archive) just because the item waymarked has been removed/destroyed/ or no longer meets the criteria. The suggestion has been made to the web site ...

Oh the irony... create a category to increase awareness of endangered animals that may encourage further endangerment of them.I too am uncomfortable in any category that might encourage someone to endanger animals.I also will not vote yes for any category that plans on archiving waymarks. Waymarks could easily be modified to announce the ...

I like it, but it seems like it could be abused by someone just wanting to generate numbers. I'm torn. Part of me wants to suggest one per waymarker, but on the other hand, for those who have an artistic bent and picked reasonable locations, I hate to limit people. I think any of these that get visits are going to be really ...

Rayman:What did we all do before the internet when we wanted to learn about something? We went to the library (or at least I did). There are a bunch of NRHP Contributing Buildings near me that I want to waymark, but can't find squat about them. I know the central library in Buffalo has an extensive local history section, so I intend so go there ...

I live in a pretty rural area of Wisconsin. There is one waymarker who waymarks about 45 miles SE. I may go into their area for Wisconsin Historical Markers and to visit their waymarks, but otherwise try not to blitz their area. I haven't seen any evidence of them coming up my way. When I go on a ''blitz'' where I spend one or ...

Bernd das Brot Team:So how about this as a definition: A discovery of a natural resource (mineral, metal or fosil fuel) that made at least 10,000 people move into a small area over a short period of time (less than a year).
I made the mineral, metal or fossil fuel distinction to avoid land rushes and rushes for fishing grounds (yes, they ...
